*The minimum wage is subject to a cost-of-living adjustment based on the Consumer Price Index no later than September 30th of each year. Montana’s minimum wage is to be the greater of the federal or current state minimum wage. Effective July 24, 2008, Montana’s minimum wage increased to $6.55 per hour, based on the federal minimum wage increase. Pursuant to state statute, Montana’s minimum wage will increase again from $6.55 per hour to $6.90 per hour effective January 1, 2009.
