CAP is a community based,private, non-profit organization serving Lake, Lincoln, Sanders, and Flathead Counties. CAP provides services that help promote self-sufficiency for low-income individuals and families. CAP targets hard to serve individuals by focusing on networking available resources and providing services such as job skills training, supportive services, job development, energy assistance, rental assistance, weatherization and first time home owner and home rehab loans. All aspects of a client;s life are addressed, including housing, budgeting, medical, job training and education, which will eventually lead to independence.

Salish Kootenai College's Adult Learning Center offers Adult Basic Education, GED preparation and testing, English as a second language, basic literacy training and computer skills instruction. This program provided basic skills education for adults aged 16 and up. Basic skills encompass the following areas: improvement of literacy skills of reading, writing, mathematics, problem solving, and English language acquisition; placement assistance, retention or completion of post secondary education, training, unsubsidized employment or career advancement; receipt of secondary school diploma or its recognized equivalent.

Lake County Schools include Arlee, Charlo, Polson, Ronan, St. Ignatius & rural schools including Salmon Prairie,Upper West Shore- Dayton & Valley View. Approximately 5,217 students attend schools throughout Lake County, including those home schooled and those in non-public schools. There are adult education and alternative education programs within the multiple school districts.
